Our Mission

The Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Our message is based on the Bible, our ministries are based on the life of Jesus Christ, and our goal is to show love to a hurting world.  Further, we preach the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations and seek to meet the needs of the least of these.  To bring good news to the poor, to bind up the broken hearted, and to set free the captives.

Baptism

We believe that all Christians are baptized by the Holy Spirit when they are born again.  We believe that water baptism by immersion is the Biblical testimony of the professed believer in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Acts 2:28-41, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 8:36-40, 47

Lord’s Supper

We believe that those who partake of the Lords’ Supper should be born-again believers, walking in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.  Acts 2:42-46, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29

Are there requirements for membership at Pleasant Hill?

Yes.  Anyone desiring to place membership at Pleasant Hill must be willing to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and grow in his or her relationship with God.  Our membership requirements are based on the New Testament precedents set forth in Acts 2:37-41, and throughout the book of Romans.

When should I become a member?

This answer is different for every person.  Some are ready to become members after only a few visits.  Others require more time to learn the teachings, beliefs and expectations of the Church.  However, if you attend regularly and are ready to have or already have entered a relationship with Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion, and if you are ready to consider Pleasant Hill as your church, then you may be ready to become a member today.

How do I become a member of Pleasant Hill?

During each weekend worship service, an invitation is extended generally at the end of the message for anyone who wants to make a decision.  You will sit down individually with your prayer partner who will answer your questions and help you make a decision.  If you are not able to respond during the worship service, someone is always available during office hours at the Church office to speak in person.  If you have any questions, please contact the Pastor’s Aid Ministry President.

What is expected of me once I become a member?

  1. Regularly attend Sunday worship service.
  2. Find a ministry to call your won. We have different types of ministries to meet diverse needs.
  3. Support the Church with your prayers, your presence, and your financial gifts.
  4. Invite others.

Right Hand of Fellowship

After completing the new member’s classes, the new member will be given the right hand of fellowship.  The right hand of fellowship is a church-wide greeting to the new member of the church body.  After the sermon, Pastor Culpepper, the official family and church body will welcome the new member to the Pleasant Hill family.

Tithe

The Bible teaches that the baseline for giving is tithing, contributing 10% of your gross income to the Church.  Your tithe is one way of exercising your faith in God and your love for others.  God calls us to give the first of what we have and he will bless the rest.

Your giving helps to feed the hungry, provide emergency financial assistance to members in need, maintain our buildings and grounds, help students in college, support outreach in our community, support our visitors, and much more.

Offering

When God stirs you to give beyond your tithes, that is referred to as an offering.  You can direct your offering to the cause that resonates with you.  You can choose to give to our General Fund or our Building Fund.  We believe that we are called to care for one another and ultimately for all of God’s creation.  The outreach fund supports our efforts to fight poverty, and provide for emergencies in our Church, our community, our city, our state, and our nation.

On-line Giving
